3 Rare Photos Academy Award Director/Writer Joseph Mankiewicz Whaling Expedition

Up for sale is a lot of 3 antique 1930s photos of a whaling expedition.  That would be interesting enough but at least two of the men in the photos are famous movie guys.  In the photo of the 4 men posing (2 additional ones are in the background, not counting them), but the one sitting on left is legendary movie producer, writer, director Joseph L. Mankiewicz (1909-1993).  He won at 5 Academy Awards for THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, A LETTER TO THREE WIVES and ALL ABOUT EVE and was nominated for at least 4 other films.  The man in the photo standing on right with hand on the ropes is film writer William Slavens McNutt (1885-1938).  He wrote 28 films between 1922 and 1939 and garnered 2 Academy Award nominations for the screenplays of LADY AND GENT and THE LIVES OF A BENEGAL LANCER.  The bald man is I think named Drew Cady.  But I can't find any info about him.  The handsome man kneeling in front is only labeled with a few letters that I can't make out.  In the photo of the whale at side of ship with men leaning out, I think Mankiewicz is the one hanging out the most.  The exact writing on back of photo is "Whaling Trip Calif 1932 or 3 Joe Mankiewicz, Drew Cady, Bill McNutt" and the other name I can't read.  The photos are 7.5" X 9.25"  They were once in an album with black paper residue on backsides.  I purchased these at an estate auction with no additional information provided.  At the time of this whaling trip Mankiewicz was a 23 or 24 year old screenwriter with several credits under his belt but his true successes were still ahead of him.  The photos are in nice condition.

*Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week.  If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I am able to ship again.  But most people will have a much shorter wait and some will have very fast shipping.  No one will have to wait more than 5 business days.  Thank you for understanding.
