Red Glass Spoonholder

This Piece of Glassware is known to some as the "Old Mule Spoonrest".

When you purchase this Spoonholder, you are purchasing a Piece of History! This Spooner dates back to the Early 1900's. It can be found in a Catalog from the Westmoreland Specialty Company. It was sold as a Sanitary Spoonholder. It was probably made only in Crystal. They can be found plain or with Wheel Cut Designs (patterns that have been cut into the glass) on them. When Westmoreland Glass closed, the mould was bought by Summit Art Glass of Revenna, OH. Even though it was in Summit's Catalog, I am not sure it was ever made. After Summit closed, the mould was purchased by Rosso Glass, who is the present owner of the mould. Rosso Glass leases the mould to Mosser Glass, who now manufactures these in several colors. This is the Original mould used by the Westmoreland Specialty Company. Today many call it the Mule Shoe Spoonholder because it appears as a hoof.

Made in the USA by Mosser Glass.
