Thomas Pennant (1726-1798)was a Welsh naturalist and topographer. It is argued that Pennant Hills, NSW is named after Thomas Pennant (In Search of the Pennant Hills (2007), by Trevor Patrick, James Symes & Andrew Tinkand) and that he contributed to the Australian ornithology of Cook's First Voyage (The contribution of Thomas Pennant (1726-1798), Welsh naturalist, to the Australian ornithology of Cook's first voyage (1768-1771) by David G.
