This auction is for a Spectacular Circa 1902 to 1904 Edward Purkis Frost and his Ornithopter Flying Machine Imperial Sized Cabinet Photo
Edward Purkis Frost was an early British Aviation Pioneer, who was a member of thAeronautical Society since 1875 and became its president from 1908 to 1911.
Frost built the above pictured Ornithopter in 1902 fitted with an internal combustion engine, and succeeded in lifting from the ground in 1904.
This photograph undoubtedly dates from somewhere in the 1902 to 1904 range.
A wing from Frost's Ornithopter resides in London's Science Museum.
The fantastic photo is mounted to its original period board which measures 22 by 26 inches, while the photograph itself measures 16 by 20 inches.  
The photograph is signed by the noted British photography studio, Scott & Wilkinson of Cambridge.
The condition of this photograph is overall very strong, with some mild chipping to the board in areas, and mild toning/foxing.
