These earrings are 2.5" of hand carved goat bone.  Stainless steel ear wires.  Made in Kenya, East Africa, by the Akamba men and women.  The men usually carve the bone and the women assemble the jewelry.  The necklaces are worn after they are promised to be married or just after being married.

The profits from this purchase go toward Jane Kangethe's college education and her family.  They are a Christian family with three daughters.  None of the girls are circumcised and all are trying to get an education.  One of them was gang raped by those who oppose their freedom.  The family is now raising a handsome young boy.  I met Peter Kangethe 30 years ago when I was visiting Kenya for a college semester.  I am now 50 yrs old and I still support them in their dreams to make Africa a better place for women and men.
