owned a jewelry store on Main Street in Central City, Rapin’s Mineral Palace.
He also had stores in Silver Plume, Oak Creek, and Denver. The family moved
from Central City to Oak Creek in about 1913. He was killed in a car accident
in 1919, and his family continued to operate the jewelry store for many years.
He also sold photographs. His backstamp read: “A. Rapin Silver Plume, Colorado.
Dealer in Curiosities. If U R Looking 4 Specimens Write 2 Me”. This is
unsigned, but the text along the bottom is a match for Martin’s lettering. 5” x
8”. Image is clean and clear. Some mount wear.
