In the Declaration of Independence, the founding fathers wrote: "We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness."

America was founded by white leaders who committed genocide and enslaved black people. The 3 unalienable rights for all humans did not apply to black people because they were considered by the founders of our country to be less than. In our Declaration of independence, it was common knowledge that black people weren't created equal. They didn't have to write (except for black people) because the people in power all knew that black people simply weren't included.

For 339 years, black people were enslaved.
For 89 years, black people earned the right to become lower class citizens during segregation.
And when segregation ended in 1954, black people were "treated as equals".

Today, the police murder black men and women in the streets and in their own homes. The government and those charged with the duty to "serve and protect" have NEVER treated black people equal to whites.

THIS HAS TO STOP. America needs to change because racism isn't new. Racism is American. It was what this country was built on, and it has persisted for over 400 hundred years. It ends now. Stand up with your black brothers and sisters because all Americans are granted three inalienable rights,

LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

This shirt was designed to show us that we are all connected to the black community and their right to be treated as equals. For it is their right to live and flourish without being persecuted. Instead, they have been oppressed by a government so deeply entrenched in racism it's almost hard to fathom.

This design is inspired by the color black. Black is a color that is comprised of every color in the spectrum. For that reason, black has always been my favorite color. BLACK IS EVERYTHING. We must join their fight. We must stand with them for if we are not for them, we are against them. My heart aches for the black community.

I don't know their pain, and I never will. But this little thing is something. All of our voices matter. Democracy is ruled by the people, and we the people demand change.
