King Philip's War
King Philip's War is a game about the highly destructive conflict between the Native Indians and the English settlers of New England in 1375-1376. Although it was short, King Philip's War established many familiar features of armed encounters between Indians and Europeans. This game is designed for ease of play, so it cannot capture all the nuances and horrors of seventeenth century wilderness warfare. King Philip's War does, however, reflect many factors that influenced the course of wars between cultures in colonial America. These are discussed breifly in the historical notes throughout these rules.
King Philip's War is a low complexity game in which the Indian player creates a loose confederation of tribes in hopes of defeating Colonial English forces. The English player raises military units in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and what was then the separate colony of Plymouth to carry the fight into the tribal lands of his opponent.
