This is a copy of a map of the town of Bath, England by John Speed and was initially printed in the 1600's. It is double mounted, firstly with yellow card and then with thick ivory coloured card which has been cut with a bevelled inside edge. The completed picture measures is double mounted, firstly with then black card and then with thick ivory coloured card which has a bevelled inside edge. The completed picture measures 14” x 11" (35.5cm x 28cm).

The map is a book plate taken very carefully from a book of maps which was printed in 2000. It is in excellent condition and has been printed on good quality paper. Please note that the book this map was taken from was printed in 2000 and is NOT an original from 1610.

The map is beautiful and the colours are vibrant.  A description of the town as it was in the 1600's is included with the map.

John Speed’s maps were the first to show all the counties of Britain with towns, villages and boundaries as they were at the time as they were at the time of Elizabeth I. With the first known ‘aerial’ maps of towns, illustrations of battles, portraits of royalty, they are considered to be an elaborate work of art.

I have a couple of these maps framed on my walls at home and can say with all honesty that they look fabulous!
