Hammerite Direct to Rust Smooth Metal Paint
Hammerite Direct to Rust Smooth Metal Paint is a versatile solution designed to function as a primer, undercoat, and topcoat in one. Ideal for protecting and beautifying metal surfaces, this paint simplifies your project by reducing the need for multiple products.
Application Instructions
- Preparation:
-Store the aerosol at room temperature for at least 2 hours before use.
-Shake the can vigorously in a vertical motion until the agitator ball is heard, then continue shaking for an additional 3 minutes. - Application:
-Apply light, even coats from a distance of approximately 15cm (6 inches), keeping the aerosol moving to avoid concentrating spray in one spot.
-Apply 3-4 coats for maximum protection, allowing 15 minutes between coats.
-To prevent blockages, invert the can and spray for 2 seconds between coats.
Surface Preparation
- Smooth Surfaces: Abrade smooth surfaces and remove all loose and flaking paint with a wire brush.
- Cleaning: Remove dirt and dust with diluted detergent and grease with Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry.
- Testing: Spray a test patch of Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint on painted surfaces and leave for at least 1 hour. If there is no reaction, proceed with the application. If a reaction occurs, remove all paint from the surface.
- Special Surfaces: For bare zinc, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces, apply Hammerite Special Metals Primer before using Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint.
Please note:
Due to printing limitations, the colour may vary from the cap and can colour.
400ml Cans have 100ml paint and 300ml propellant. It will do approx. 1m2 of one coat.
200ml Cans have 50ml paint and 150ml propellent. It will do approx. 0.5m2 of one coat.
The above estimates are based on using a primer first especially on porous surfaces where the paint gets absorbed into the material.
We recommend using a primer then paint followed by clear lacquer for best results. Always try on a small area first before spraying the whole area.
