This very special little bird dates from around 1780, towards the end of the Georgian period. It's made of the famous porcelain from the Derby-Chelsea factory, the most important porcelain manufactory in England, established in 1743. It's of very typical Chelsea design, all hand painted with extremely vibrant colours and is a supremely satisfying miniature size. The design appears to be a lilac breasted roller or similar brightly coloured African bird, that would have been all but unknown to people of that time. It's set into solid 18 carat gold, with a gold ring fitting and to the base sits a polished natural carnelian seal. It's in such incredible, near perfect condition throughout, it must have been secreted away in a jewellery box for the past 240 years!

A genuine and exciting treasure to find, these are both fabulously collectable and look wonderful on a chain.

It weighs 6.6 grams and measures 28 mm tall.
