This 17th century engraving was done by Abraham Goos in Amsterdam in 1630, and was copied from a larger map made by Anders Bure, or Andreas Buraeus, or Andrea Bureo, in Latin. Shows Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and the Baltic. This Dutch copy was published by Nocolaes Visscher (Nicolas Vischer), first in 1630, and a few times subsequently. This version was, I believe, the 1658 edition, though it could be from anywhere between 1640 and 1680 or so. Hard to tell for sure, but it seems to match other copies of the 1658 edition. Latin text. Fold in the center. Hand colored. Copper plate print. Measures about 22 1/4" x 18 1/2". Framed.
The condition is excellent, with no rips, stains, or creases, except the center creasing, which remains from its binding in the original atlas in which it was published. Very rare, and absolutely beautiful.
