This is a copy of a map of Surrey by John Speed and was initially printed in the 1600's.   Overall it measures 15" x 12" (38cm x 30cm).

This map is a book plate taken very carefully from a book of maps printed in 2016. It is printed on good quality paper, it is on 1 page and there are no folds on the paper.

As it is from a book there is the description of another map on the rear but a full description of this map and the area as it was in the 1600's is included in the listing. The map is beautiful, the colours are vibrant and overall it's in excellent condition.

John Speed’s maps were the first to show all the counties of Britain with towns, villages and boundaries as they were at the time as they were at the time of Elizabeth I. With the first known ‘aerial’ maps of towns, illustrations of battles, portraits of royalty, they are considered to be an elaborate work of art.

I have a couple of these maps framed on my walls at home and can say with all honesty that they look fabulous!

Please ask if you have any questions or want more information.

It will be posted to you unfolded in a cardboard backed envelope.
