-----------------------------------------------------------

Highland Light (previously known as Cape Cod Light) is an historic lighthouse in North Turo (Cape Cod) MA. The current lighthouse tower was erected in 1857, replacing two earlier towers that that had been built in 1797 and 1831. Highland Light is the oldest and tallest lighthouse on Cape Cod.  Highland Light is open to the public by the National Park Service and maintained by the Coast Guard. An interesting note is the USS Highland Light IX-48 was named after the lighthouse. The ship built in 1932 is 68’ cutter sail rig and was in service with the Naval Academy from 1940-1965.
