3rd - 5th Century AD Roman Silvered Decorated Metal Dish
This is an extraordinarily rare & genuine Roman silvered or tinned metal alloy dish, circa 3rd - 5th century AD.
The twin handles are applied with relief cast foliate decoration & a reeded rim. The main body of the dish has a hand engraved rim with a trailing foliate design & a punch semi circle design repeated all round. There is scratched & punched lettering to the reverse which may be contemporary to the dish.
Ex - private collection Dorset formed in the 1960's - 80's.
Just to reiterate this is a genuine ancient Roman artifact, not a reproduction or a copy.
