RAFOLS CASAMADA- MARIA GIRONA PART OF THE ARTISTS FUND

The part of the legacy that we offer has six differentiated sections:

ORIGINAL DRAWINGS, CORRESPONDENCE AND DOCUMENTATION, GRAPHICS, PHOTOGRAPHS, BOOKS AND OBJECTS.

The original drawings are 4 on paper of approximately 50x30cm, (Learning Studies of the painter Rafols Casamada), and 40 drawings in 18x10cm notebooks, the vast majority by Maria Girona, his wife. The documents are handwritten notes, correspondence addressed to him, and vice versa, postcards that he sent to his parents from Capellades, 138 photographs of all his long and intense life, in various facets of it, his youth, his environment, his studies, press , meetings, including one of his first communion, and one listed 17V of Luis Vives (Italian interior). As for the graphic work, it consists of 10 lithographs signed in pencil measuring 45 x 60 cm the largest, and 40 x 30 the smallest, and without forming two serigraphs, a drypoint and an aquatint. There are also 500 books from his personal library, of which 250 are signed by him, and the other 250 are not.

The objects include the artist's easel, two palettes and his color box, two chairs from his study, a personal bookcase, three silver items (souvenir of his first communion), a collection of fans (20 approx) of his wife Maria Girona, a woodcut nuance, a collection of about 20 old Albert Rafols toys, about 6 original paintings of personal friends, and a 19th century Elizabethan dresser from his studio.

Albert Rafols Casamada, (Barcelona 1923-2009), was a painter, art and design pedagogue and writer. It is worth highlighting his many national and international exhibitions, including the one of 1948 in the Saló d´Octubre de las Galeríes Laietanes together with Modest Cuixart, Tàpies, María Girona and other renowned artists of the time. In 1980 she received the National Prize for Plastic Arts, in 1983 the Creu de Sant Jordi, and in 2008 the Medal of Artistic Merit of Barcelona and the titles of knighthood in 1985. María Girona Benet (Barcelona 1923-2015) was a painter , founder and teacher of the Eina school. In 1998 she received the Creu de Sant Jordi.

La parte del legado que ofrecemos tiene seis apartados diferenciados:

DIBUJOS ORIGINALES, CORRESPONDENCIA Y DOCUMENTACION, OBRA GRAFICA, FOTOGRAFIAS, LIBROS Y OBJETOS.

Los dibujos originales son 4sobre papel de 50x30cm aproximadamente, (Estudios de aprendizaje del pintor Rafols Casamada), y 40 dibujos en libretas de apuntes de 18x10cm, la gran mayoria de Maria Girona, su esposa. Los documentos son apuntes manuscritos, correspondencia dirigida a él, y viceversa, postales que enviaba a sus padres de Capellades, 138 fotografias de toda su larga e intensa vida, en varias facetas de la misma, su juventud, su entorno, sus estudios, prensa, reuniones, incluso una de su primera comunión, y una enumerada 17V de Luis Vives ( interior Italiano). En cuanto a la obra gràfica, se compone de 10 litografías firmadas a lápiz de 45 x 60 cm las mas grandes, y de 40 x 30 las pequeñas, y sin formaar dos serigrafias una punta seca y una aguatinta. También están 500 libros de su biblioteca personal, de los que 250 estàn firmados por él, y los otros 250 restantes no.

En los objetos cabe destacar el caballete del artista, dos paletas y su caja de colores, dos sillas de su estudio, un mueble librería personal, tres enseres de plata (recuerdo de su primera comunión), una colección de abanicos (20 aprox) de su esposa Maria Girona, una matiz de madera xilografica, una colección de unos 20 juguetes antiguos de Albert Rafols, unos 6 cuadros originales de amistades personales, y una comoda isabelina del siglo XIX de su estudio.

Albert Rafols Casamada, (Barcelona 1923-2009), fue pintor, pedagogo del arte, del diseño y escritor. Cabe destacar sus nombrosas exposiciones nacionales e internacionales, cabe destacar la de 1948 en el saló d´Octubre de las Galeríes Laietanes junto con Modest Cuixart, Tàpies, María Girona y otros reconocidos artistas de la època. En 1980 recibió el Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas, en 1983 la Creu de Sant Jordi, y en 2008 la Medalla  d´or al Merit artístic de Barcelona y los titulos de caballero en 1985. María Girona Benet (Barcelona 1923-2015) fué pintora, fubdadora y profesora de la escuela Eina. En 1998 recibió la Creu de Sant Jordi.
