Green Man - Bookend,  Ely Cathedral.

This is one of our unique and exclusive designs from our collection of hand crafted reproduction carvings which are taken directly from an original medieval Cathedral carving. We pride ourselves at Oakapple Designs as having permission to take moulds directly from the medieval carvings found upon the misericords and choir stalls from within the Cathedrals and Churches in the UK. Our moulds and production techniques capture and reproduce all the fine detail from the original carvings to produce a very high-quality piece with all the authenticity from the original carving

Taken from the medieval carvings that are found upon the highly decorated Misericords and supports within the choir stalls at Ely Cathedral. This carving shows another depiction of the legendry pagan image of the Green Man. This portrait shows the Green Man as being a Monk with an enormous amount of foliage spewing directly from the mouth and then making its way around the face. The carving has been produced in a full three dimensional design. We have produced this replica directly from the original carving and then added both a back and base plinth to form this stunning bookend design. Comes with a felted base and product label.
