Description
This Stained Glass window is from an old English Gentleman's Clothing Store Dunn & Co.
They were around the top of the display windows & into the doorway, depicting cities that had branches of the store.
Dunn & Co. was founded in 1887 by George Arthur Dunn, a Quaker, who started by selling hats on the streets of Birmingham Forty years later he had two hundred hat shops and as many franchises in other stores. These gradually developed into a string of High Street stores specializing in formal wear, especially suits, blazers, tweed sports jackets and flannels.
In its final year of trading as an independent company, 1996, Dunn & Co. had 130 shops and 429 staff, with a head office in Swansea employing a further 75 workers
The sizes are 17.5" x 21.25 Glass & 20.25" x 24" overall including the frame.
The obscurity of the background glass is heavy
The original frame could not be saved, so this window has been reframed in a new frame.
