Portuguese Galleon Shipwreck off the coast of Sao Vicente, Brazil. Under the command of Hans Staden, a German explorer who later wrote about his capture by native Brazilians. Depicting sailors foundering in the water, surrounded by floating wood from their galleon; while survivors on shore fish them out of the water. Other onlookers, hands clasped in prayer juxtaposed against bucolic landscapes and fortifications.

There are old small tapped repairs to the bottom of the page and left portion of engraving. Otherwise very good condition. A rare opportunity to hold such a Historical Document (Hand Colored in 1592).1
