Vetus insert for Quicksilver rubbing strake

Please note that this insert is cut from a long length and we can not accept returns as it is cut to order.

This Vetus rubbing strake insert can be used as a direct replacement for Quicksilver part number(s): 875802BLEU and 875802GRIS.

The insert is a good match for the original rubbing strake insert fitted to Quicksilver boats - please see the image which shows the Vetus insert installed into original Quicksilver outer.

This is suitable for most Quicksilver boats from around 2000 to around 2014 including Pilothouse, Cabin and Commander boats, as well as Arvor boats.

Colours

This is available in dark blue, light grey, dark grey (near black) and burgundy.

Please note that the Quicksilver burgundy insert (used on some Arvor boats, plus Quicksilver Cruiser and Cabin models) tends to fade badly over time and this generally means that the whole boat length has to be replaced at the same time.

We recommend replacing the whole burgundy rubbing strip with light grey to prevent the colour fading in the future, but we do now hold a stock of the Vetus burgundy insert for those who wish to retain the original look.

While a silver colour was used on some Quicksilver boats. Vetus do not make a silver rubbing strake and the Quicksilver insert is very expensive (over £14/m), so again we recommend replacing the whole rubbing strip with light grey.

Please note that there can be colour variations between batches of insert, but we will always supply as one colour.

However, as boats may originally have used insert from different batches and it will have faded over time, it is possible that the new insert will not match the original colour exactly.

Installation

The insert is quite hard at room temperature and particularly so when outside in the cold. To fit this, we recommend immersing the insert into hot water until it softens and then install it.

The insert will stretch slightly when warm, so try to handle it carefully and do not stretch it when installing - otherwise it may pull tight and leave a gap when it cools.

The outer can also be straightened out by heating, although we advise extreme caution if using a heat gun as the insert surface will be damaged by excessive heating - a hairdryer is more than sufficient!

Ordering information - IMPORTANT

This insert is sold by the metre - please select the quantity in metres that you require.

The blue insert is also available in a pre-cut coil of 20 metres (at a reduced price per metre).

Please note that the insert is not supplied with the outer. The insert is a sold as a replacement for damaged / faded insert, not for a new installation. We are not able to sell the outer vie eBay due to issues with carriage.

The quantity showing is our current stock level and if you require more, more stock will become available when we receive it.

Please measure carefully before you order as we can not accept returns as this is cut from a long length.

When measuring, it's always best to over-order a little, particularly if you are replacing the whole rubbing strake around the boat.

Please note that although we will try, we can not guarantee that all orders will be sent as a single length, as the insert is supplied to us in relatively short coils.

We will, at our discretion, supply in a maximum of two lengths, but will try to ensure that this does not result in a joint in a difficult location, ie the lengths will be different to ensure the joint is not at the bow; and the minimum length of any piece will be 2m.

Returns - IMPORTANT

This insert is cut from a long length and we can not accept returns as it can not be re-sold.
