ABOUT THE STAMPS:
1)This issue is the first of a series of 12. The art of the stamp presents elements that symbolize the zodiac sign of Aries. On the upper left corner is a scheme of the main stars that form the Constellation of Ram. On the center is the image of a ram (Aries in Latin) that gives its name to the constellation. On the lower right quadrant, two gray bands delimit the space between the central figure and the name of the zodiac sign, written in black letters, with the time interval governed by the zodiac sign of Aries below. Then a strip of red color represents the element “fire”, which governs the zodiac sign. Finally, on the lower right corner, the icon of the zodiac sign of Aries, symbolizes the head and horns of a ram. Computer graphics technique was used.
2) Zodiac sign: Taurus. The art of the stamp presents elements that symbolize this zodiac sign. On the lower left corner is a scheme of the main stars that form the Constellation of Tauri. On the center is the image of a bull, which gives its name to the constellation. On the upper left quadrant, two bands in gray color delimit the space between the central figure and the name of the zodiac sign, written in in black letters, with the time interval governed by the zodiac sign of Taurus below. Then a strip of brown color represents the element “earth”, which governs the zodiac sign. Finally, on the upper left corner, the icon of the zodiac sign of Taurus, which symbolizes the head and horns of a bull. Computer graphics technique was used.
3) This issue carries the third sign of the zodiac, Gemini, and the art of the stamp has elements that symbolize this sign. On the upper right corner appears its icon, image that originates in the Constellation of Gemini, represented by the roman numeral “2” that symbolizes the duality, the physical and the mental. Below, two grey bands delimit the space where the name of the zodiac sign is inserted, having an interval of time governed by the zodiac sign of Gemini. Then a strip of green color represents the element “air,” one of the regents of nature that characterizes a personality of the born in that zodiac sign. On the center, an image of two young twins, representing a constellation of Gemini. Among them the scheme of the main stars that form this stellar grouping. Computer graphics technique was used.
4) This issue brings the fourth sign of the zodiac, Cancer, and the art of the stamp shows elements that symbolize that sign. On the lower left corner appears its icon, image that originates from the shape of a crab’s pincers. Above, two grey bands delimit the area where the name of the zodiac sign is inserted, having the period of time governed by the zodiac sign of Cancer. Then a stripe of blue color represents the element “water,” one of the regents of nature that characterizes a personality of the born in that zodiac sign. At the center, the image of a Crab., that represents the Constellation of Cancer (which is named after its Latin form for “Crab”). Up, to the right, the arrangement of the main stars that are named with prefix “Cancri”. Computer graphics technique was used.
5) This issue carries the fifth sign of the zodiac: Leo. The art of the stamp features elements that symbolize this zodiac sign. In the upper left corner, there is a icon which represents the lion’s mane. At the top, two gray bands delimit the space where the name of this zodiac sign and the time interval governed by the sign are inserted. Below, a strip of red color represents the element “fire” that governs the leonine people. At the center are the image of a lion and the schematic representation of its constellation, one of the oldest, which is also one of the easiest to identify in the sky because of its bright stars of high magnitude. The ancient people considered Regulus, its Alpha star, the most powerful. The computer graphics technique was used.
6) This stamp artwork was developed from the elements that symbolize this one that is the sixth zodiac sign: Virgo. In the upper right corner, there is an icon that represents celestial wings. At the top, two gray bands and another band in brown color (representing the element “earth”, the one who a Virgo-born belongsvv to) delimit the space where the name of this zodiac sign and the period of time governed by the sign are inserted. As main subject, a picture of a maiden and a wheat branch, and beside it, a schematic representation of its constellation, the second largest that can be seen in the sky and the largest amongst all the twelve zodiac constellations, being easily recognized by its alpha (main) star, Spica. 7) The art of the stamp of this issue was elaborated with elements that symbolize the seventh sign of the zodiac: Libra. On the lower left corner is its icon, which symbolizes a scale. Above, a band of green color represents the element “air”, one of the rulers of nature that characterize the personality of those born in this zodiac sign. Two gray stripes delimit the space where the name and the time interval governed by sign of Libra are inserted. On the center, the illustration of a scale, and on the lower right corner, the scheme of representation of its constellation. Computer graphics technique was used.
8) The art of the stamp of this issue was elaborated with elements that symbolize the eighth sign of the zodiac: Scorpio. In the upper left corner is its icon, which symbolizes a scorpion. Below, two gray stripes delimit the space where the sign’s name is inserted, followed by the time interval governed by the sign. A strip of blue color represents the element “water”, one of the rulers of nature that characterize the personality of those born in this sign. In the center, the illustration of a scorpion and the scheme of representation of its constellation. Graphics computer technique was used.
9) The stamp artwork of this issue was elaborated with elements that symbolize the ninth sign of the zodiac: Sagittarius. On the upper right corner lies its icon, which symbolizes a bow and an arrow. Two gray stripes delimit the space where lie a red band that represents the element “fire” – one of the rulers of nature that characterize the personality of those born under this zodiac sign, the name and the time interval governed by sign of Sagittarius, an illustration of a centaur holding a bow and and an arrow and, on the left, the representation of its constellation. Digital illustration technique was used.
10) The stamp artwork of this issue was elaborated with elements that symbolize the tenth sign of the zodiac: Capricorn. On the lower left corner lies its icon, which symbolizes Enki, a sumerian deity, half goat, half fi sh. Lying above, a brown band that represents the element “earth” – one of the rulers of nature that characterize the personality of those born under this zodiac sign –, the name and the time interval governed by the sign of Capricorn, an illustration of a goat with a fi sh tail, and, on the right side, the representation of its constellation. Digital illustration technique was used.
11) This stamp artwork was created with elements that symbolize the eleventh zodiac sign: aquarius. On the upper left corner lies its icon, represented by two parallel waves, one that represents reason, and the other one, feelings. A band of gray color and another one in green color delimit the spot where is written both name and time interval governed by Aquarius. The green band represents the element “air,” one of the regents of nature that characterizes a personality of the born under that zodiac sign. A greek vase was depicted in the middle-left portion and on the right, the representation of its constellation. Digital illustration technique was used.
12) The stamp artwork for this issue was made with elements that symbolize the last sign of the zodiac: Pisces. In the upper right corner is its icon, represented by a pair of fish that swims in opposite directions and that is held together by a string. A strip in gray and another in blue delimit the space where the name and the time interval governed by Pisces is inserted. The blue band represents the element “water” - one of the rulers of nature that characterize the personality of those born in this sign. In the central portion, the illustration of two fish, and in the middle of them, the representation of its constellation. Digital illustration technique was used.
13) The artwork of the sheet is composed of the 12 zodiac signs already issued in individual stamps, making a mandala with the four central stamps. The stamp on the upper left shows the zodiac signs of Pisces, Aries and Taurus, as well as their ruling planets (respectively Neptune, Mars and Venus). On the upper right are the zodiac signs of Gemini, Cancer and Leo, ruled by Mercury, the Moon and the Sun. The lower right stamp shows the zodiac signs of Virgo, Libra and Scorpio, whose rulers are Mercury, Venus and Pluto; and finally, the lower left stamp unites the zodiac signs of Capricorn, Sagittarius and Aquarius, ruled by Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. All the stamps present illustration and symbol of each zodiac sign, and in the center is the Planet Earth. The technique of digital illustration was used.
