I created these slimline carriers allow easy access to compact flash and SD cards. They are approximately 1 1/8" tall, a size used in some Compaq systems. See my other auctions for a standard 5.25" drive bay carrier. You have a choice between 1 or 2 slot compact flash to IDE, SD to IDE, mSD to IDE and a carrier only option for Startech compact flash to IDE boards.
The single slot CF to IDE boards can operate as either a master or slave device, selectable via a jumper on the board. The board is powered by a floppy power connector (cables and flash card are not included). You can attached other devices to the IDE cable as needed.
The dual slot CF to IDE board is seen by the PC as two drives (primary and secondary). When using two drives it should be installed on the end of the IDE cable. When the jumper is on pins 1 and 2 the top card slot is the master and the bottom card is the slave. When the jumper is on pins 2 and 3 the top card is the slave and the bottom card is the master. No other device can be on the IDE cable when using dual CF card readers (as the card it seen as two IDE devices). If you only want to use one CF card on the dual readers you can move the card to the secondary IDE port on the cable and use the top slot. The jumper should be on pins 2 and 3 (this effectively makes the dual slot CF to IDE board a single slot CF to IDE board).
All cards are inserted with the label facing up.
You can add on a 4 pin Molex to floppy power connector to your order. This is especially handy in tight cases where it would be challenging to get the power cable to the IDE board.

The SD and microSD to IDE card readers only work as the master device on each IDE cable. You can attach a slave device without any issues.
The carriers have holes that align in the typical CD-ROM / floppy drive configuration on the sides and bottom. You can power the SD to IDE adapter board with either the floppy power connector or the hard drive Molex connector, (as noted above, the CF/2CF boards are powered by a floppy Molex connector).
