Beautiful Rare 1894 CHRISTOFLE France Silverplate & Blue Opaline Glass Basket

This stunning piece was hand made in 1894 by famous silversmith Christofle in France. It features a beautiful light blue Opaline glass bowl insert surrounded by a pierced design floral basket.

The piece measures approx. 5" across (top rim) and 4" high (when the handle is down, 7" if it is up). The hinges add 3/4" to the upper diameter on each side. Excellent antique condition with the handle being solidly attached with well crafted hinges, no cracks, chips or repairs. The glass is mouth blown as evidenced by the air bubbles and ground pontil on the bottom.

Hallmarked with Christofle makers mark and date mark for 1894 on one of the feet. An additional Christofle mark is on the inside of the basket.

Very unusual and impressive piece! Catches and reflects light beautifully.
