Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Star of Life 1 Troy Ounce (oz) .999 Silver Medallion/Round
The Star of Life is a six-pointed star featuring the Rod of Asclepius in the center. (Asclepius is an ancient Greek physician deified as the god of medicine). Overall, the staff represents medicine and healing, with the skin-shedding serpent being indicative of renewal. Adapted from the personal Medical Identification Symbol of the American Medical Association, each bar on the "Star of Life" represents one of six EMS functions. The functions include: detection, reporting, response, on-scene care, care in transit and transfer to definitive care.
Custom minted in the USA at the SilverTowne Mint in Winchester, Indiana using pure .999 fine silver bullion. The obverse of this round features the Star of Life symbol along with the words "EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES" wrapped around the design and a rope-like border all atop a mirror/proof-life background. The reverse features our standard non-dated back with the weight and purity designation of "ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" displayed around the area designated for engraving.

Your Star of Life EMS Silver Round will arrive in a protective plastic capsule inside of our SilverTowne gift box with natural kraft paper made from recycled materials in the USA.
