1930 Bayer Cafiaspirin Genuine Aspirin &Caffeine Porcelain Sign, Double Sided

For sale 1930 Bayer Cafiaspirin Genuine Aspirin &Caffeine Porcelain Sign, Double Sided. This is a Genuine double sided vintage Bayer Porcelain Metal Sign of 2.5mm thick steel. It measures 15x24 inches and weighs 3.5 kgs.


These Porcelain Signs were once fixed outside drug stores, general provision stores, departmental stores in the state of Madras a province in the southern part of British India(now called Tamil Nadu).


The coin in the illustration shows as "1 Anna" which was the British India currency for the cost of the Cafiaspirin tablets. The coin shows the year 1930, indicating the Sign is likely from that period


The language used on the sign is English and Tamil, Tamil is one of the oldest language in the world it traces back to 300BC. Tamil is also the official language of Singapore, Sri Lanka and of course the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu where it originated.


A brief history of "Bayer AG", Bayer was started by two friends in 1863 in Germany. They today are the unrivaled Giants in the fields of medical and chemical manufacture. Aspirin the wonder drug was a creation of a chemist in Bayer in 1890, and was sold by Bayer from 1899 onwards.


This sign shows some porcelain chipping and surface wear due to weathering and age, otherwise in good condition.
