A fascinating History - small booklet enclosed

The first enamel miniature was made by Frenchman Jean Toutin of Chateadun in the 17th Century.  The English learned the skills in the mid 18th century and hand painted enamel designs to copper boxes.  

This enamel piece is entirely hand painted.  In addition to the laborious copper cutting, assembly, and enamel painting, no less than fire firings were conducted with great care to solidify the enamels and gives this enamel piece the shining bright colors.
