Does not work for one 40W T12 lamp

I bought this to replace an old Advance RL-140-TP for a single 40W T12 light fixture. The copy says the ballast will work for one or two 40W tubes, but I found it does NOT work for a single tube, but just flickers dimly.

Works as it should. Arrived early. No complaints!...

Doesn't work with much older fixtures

It turned out that this ballast would not work with the much older fixture that I had. I don't know exactly how old the fixture was, but the house id 103 years old. I returned the ballast to for credit and bought a new fixture.

Easy to install with plenty of lead wire length supplied. I verified with the cross-reference linked below. It was great that the case was a direct replacement fit for the original unit, so no fixture modifications were required.

I wanted to keep a fluorescent fixture in my kitchen because it matches the rest of the decor. My unit had gotten to a point where there was quite a lag from when I turned it on to when all four bulbs would be fully lit. It also had a distinct hum. This new unit was less than half the size of the original. It took me about about an hour to install two of them, but now the light comes on immediately and the hum is gone.

Maybe it will help somebody who has questions about its compatibility. I use it to replace an old R-140-1-TP that worked with one F30T12.This ballast (RELB-2S40-N model) is way lighter and smaller comparing to the old model
