Darringtons are delighted to present for sale this lovely quality Maltese silver soup ladle. Made by the Maltese silversmith Michele Calleja who had been working as a silversmith in Valetta, Malta since 1811. 
 
This delightful Maltese silver soup ladle is of a simple rustic form similar to a fiddle pattern, in a good gauge of Maltese Standard silver of 10 1/2 Deniers (87.5%) and is marked with the date and M for the standard under Maitland.

Condition Report:

In good condition for its over 170 year age, may have surface wear, scratches, marks and signs of use commensurate with age, also on the back of the handle a dink in the edge, the hallmarks are readable although a little rubbed, a quality piece of Victorian Maltese silver flatware.
