Darringtons are delighted to present for sale this lovely quality pair of asparagus serving tongs. Made by the excellent silversmith William Chawner II. 
 
This delightful Regency Asparagus tongs can sometimes be called sandwich tongs, have two ribbed arms, which help grip the asparagus, these are wide and are of a good gauge of silver. The range of motion and to keep them parallel they are captured in a silver cross brace, which is retained by decorative finials ( also featuring a lion passant mark) and held in by silver screws. These are quite heavy and feature a lovely crest of a lion holding a shell on the handle.

In fine condition for its over 204 year age, may have surface wear, scratches, marks and signs of use commensurate with age, the hallmarks are readable although a little rubbed, a quality piece of Georgian Regency silver flatware.
