This boucherouite rug is a unique piece handmade by women in Morocco, this a vintage style piece with humble beginnings as fabric scraps is transformed to beautiful work of art

The word Boucherouite means teared, reused clothing. 

Boucherouite rugs are made of pieces of cotton or synthetic fabrics, of ribbons, fibers, threads. 

Woven, knotted or stitched by women, they are initially made for domestic family use.

 The surface of the carpets shows an exceptional variety of textures too.

 Some items are shaggy ones, with relatively large pieces of reused clothing.

 Other Boucherouite rugs, made of threads, are smooth and soft underfoot.

 Patterns are free, unruly.
