Large French 19th Century Black Forest Elaborately Carved Wood Clock with a Striking Movement

These types of clocks represent original artwork of their carvers, thus are highly valued. Incredible clock. Case maintains deep beautiful color and its carving is very detailed. Japy Freres 8-day count wheel striking movement could use a good cleaning, but it is fully functional. Carved dial with cartouche numerals. Original pendulum with serial number matching the movement's. I will include a key as well. Rear door is missing glass, this is very minor, easy to replace. The top bird's rear wing is missing its tip, seems old, maybe it was a flaw of the carver (see the last photo). Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures 21.5" (55 cm) high. No international shipping on this one, it is too large and one solid piece of wood.

This clock, like any other pendulum based clock, has to be put in-beat when setting it up after shipping, otherwise it may not run. There are many videos on line showing how to do this and I am happy to help with advice as well.
