Heminway and Sons Silk Co." in Watertown Connecticut in 1846. The company was the first to produce thread on spools which then made sewing machines possible. He built the factory down Echo Lake Road. The whole operation was powered by waterwheels. The company prospered and the Heminway name became known around the world. "The General" died in 1886 but his children carried on the business. The booklet has a few illustrations in the 64 pages. Four pages of advertising in the back. Mild wear and soiling.
