This is a fabulous serving fork, retaining a beautiful patina and the original vermeil on the tines. It has never been monogramed, and based on R&B's mark, it was probably an early mark as the die had not been re-engraved. It weighs a hefty 5.01 ozt and measures 9 5/8" or 24.6 cm. R&B introduced this pattern in 1901 and was undoubtably the inspiration for Whiting to bring out Lily the following year. This really is a beautiful piece, and it certainly may be used for other serving tasks, not just fish.
