OLD WOODEN RITUAL WAND WITH SKULL CARVING – NAGA PEOPLE (INDIA/BURMA) – SECOND HALF 20th C.
This ritual wand originates from the Naga people (northeastern India and northwestern Myanmar).
This wooden staff crowned by a skull figure had the duty of fending off malevolent entities and other negative influences like earthquake, diseases, famine and so on.
Age: second half 20th C.
Size: 47 cm high, 9 cm wide, about 9.5 cm deep.
Weight: 416 gr.
Condition: This statue is in good condition taking into account its age except two cracks in the skull. Good signs of age and use.
