10ct 417 Yellow Gold Opal Signet Ring - Natural 1.30ct White Opal - Size T.

*ring has been poorly resized and will likely require a re-do of its resizing as the solder joint is likely to break*

Solid 10ct Yellow gold.

Hallmarked “10K”

The ring is in fairly good condition. It has fine scratches and minimal wear on it. There are scuffs on the gold too.

The ring style is a signet ring.

This ring is handmade and it is dated to the mid 1980s.

The main stone on this ring is a natural Australian white opal.

The opal has been tested and it was confirmed to be natural and it has had no colour enhancements.

The opal has a total estimated carat weight of 1.30cts.

It has no crazing, no cracks and no chips.

There are no visible sand deposits in this opal.

The opal is tightly held in its setting. It is not loose and has never been removed from its setting.

The opal is Australian. It was sourced from Coober Pedy here in Australia.

The gold purity has been tested and it was confirmed to be solid 10ct yellow gold (41.7% purity)

The ring has been poorly resized. It appears to have been lead soldered together. This solder joint is very weak and I highly expect it to break open with normal wear.

You will need to have the ring properly soldered using gold solder. It is up to you to have it either soldered by a jeweller or by yourself. I will not solder it for you. Selling as is.

The ring is comfortable to wear.

Very beautiful and stunning ring.

The opal is subtle, it does display pretty much every colour under bright sunlight. Looks plain white with tiny flickers of colour under indoor lighting.

The ring is hollow underneath the setting. It’s walls are fairly thick but it will dent if hit hard enough so best to handle with care. (No current dents)

The ring is not bent or squashed.

Just needs a proper solder joint to be wearable.

The story behind the solder joint according to the previous owner of the ring went like this:

The owner tried to jam the ring onto a different finger than he normally wore it on and the ring got stuck on his finger so he had to get it medically cut off. The owner didn’t have enough money for a proper repair of the ring so he did a “diy” repair using some electrical solder.

He supposedly wore the ring for another year after the repair. I have no idea if any of this is true and I have no way of proving this so please take this story with a grain of salt. None the less, the ring is what it is.

The ring has an inside diameter of 19.6mm.

An Australian size T.

Ring band width is 3.5mm.

Ring band thickness is 0.8mm.

The face of this ring is 12.3mm in width and the opal sits at a maximum height of 6.3mm.

Will require a repair.

Not wearable.

Will be posted with a sturdy red ring box. (Mostly for extra protection in the post)

I hold no liability if the ring breaks as it is being sold as a ring in need of repair. If you request a refund due to the ring breaking at the solder joint, I will refer you to this statement and deny your refund request as it is being sold as “for repairs” and it has been clearly described as it being likely to break.

Cost of repairs is up to the buyer. I again will not be held liable for anything related to the solder joint as it has been clearly described.

By purchasing this ring, you chose to agree to these terms.
