This is a Meinl Frog, it is wooden, not sure what kind of wood,, sound is created by scratching a wooden beater on the frog, which I don’t have the wooden beater, I bought this at a yard sale recently. You don’t have to make it as a musical ornament it could be used for whatever you decide, it is a solid piece of wood which is in good shape .
