Trade PB. 4to & 8vo. Bechstein Pianos, Berlin, Germany. 1927-28. Two Booklets.

The picture book is fairly scuffed and worn with several tears present to the wraps (repaired with old celo tape; see the photos). The catalog wrappers are lightly worn with some light shelf-wear to the extremities present. Book is free of ownership marks. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid.

"The picture book was printed by Otto von Holten, Berlin. All the pictures were taken out of the Bechstein Archives. The cover, printed in offset by Meissner & Buch, Leipzig--and the vignettes were drawn by John Dahmeke. Compiling and text arranged by Konrad H. Profe."Black and white photographs are excellent; photos of several Bechstein grands are in color.

C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG is a German manufacturer of pianos, established in 1853 by Carl Bechstein.

Bechstein has been known as a maker of one-of-a-kind artcase pianos since the 19th century. Artcase pianos were commissioned by interior designers for royal palaces and mansions. Artists and craftsmen were hired by C. Bechstein to make special pianos decorated with gold, hand-carved details, and hand-painted art on the piano case. Some of the artcase Bechsteins are now museum pieces, while others are sometimes traded at musical-instrument auctions, mainly in London and New York.
