Eastern Front 1944

Hube's Pocket:

HUBE'S POCKET takes place in early 1944 in the wake of the Soviet re-capture of Kiev. The maps cover the area in Poland, Rumania and the Ukraine just south of the Pripet Marshes. The Germans are faced with a Red Army poised to launch an offensive that historically encircled a large number of German forces - the Korsun Pocket.

However, the game attempts to portray the logistical weakness of the Red Army at this time in the war, and make it a challenge for the Soviet player to keep the Germans encircled or even just on the run. The game also attempts to portray _____'s "no retreat" mandate (via the victory conditions), and thus limit the German player's ability to conduct a mobile defense.

The system allows players a close look at the operational level of war (land and air) in a way never possible before. Players must plan their operations, allocate scarce resources, and live by the results of their choices. It is a game for experienced players, who demand better from operational simulations than "move your mice, roll your dice." Players who actually want to learn skills applicable to real campaigning.
