De Dornier-vliegboten die in Nederlands Oost-Indië, zoals Indonesië vroeger heette, opereerden, werden in Nederland gebouwd, evenals de hout met linnen verkenners van onze luchtmacht tijdens de eerste wereldoorlog. Tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog werden Nederlandse fabrieken gedwongen om vliegtuigen voor de Luftwaffe te bouwen. De belangrijkste straaljagers van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht werden door Fokker in licentie gebouwd.
