Description

De grootste vliegbasis van de Duitse Luftwaffe lag in de tweede wereldoorlog op Limburgs grondgebied. Het was de Fliegerhorst Venlo-Herongen die tussen november 1940 en maart 1941 op last van Hermann Göring werd aangelegd door meer dans 60 Nederlandse en Duitse bedrijven en 15000 arbeiders uit heel Nederlands. Bouw en inrichting van het complex, dan een oppervlakte van 2500 hectaren besloeg, kostten meer dan 10 miljoen gulden. Dat geld kwam uit de Nederlandse schatkist. In 2 delen, vertelt dit boek de gesciedenis van dit inmiddels verdwene vliegveld dat nog steeds tot de verbeelding van hele generaties spreekt.
