Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter/producer Alex G. Giannascoli has released his latest album, God Save the Animals, via [Domino].
In this work, collaboration is used as a more practical method to expand the possibilities of music.
God Save the Animals includes each of his band members (guitarist Samuel Akion, drummer Tom Kelly and bassist John Heywood), as well as Molly Garmer, a frequent collaborator, with strings and/or vocals.
Like his previous work since he was a teenager, he wrote songs and demos for God Save the Animals all by himself at home.
But he started visiting studios around Philadelphia for two purposes: to find a new sound and to "get out of the apartment and do my routine" during the pandemic.
As a result, there were about half a dozen engineers involved in the production, all of whom Giannascoli enlisted to help make the "best" recording possible.
The resulting album is more dynamic than ever, with a variety of sounds and elaborate details.
The Japanese domestic CD includes explanation and translation of lyrics, and additional bonus tracks.
