Too much is done to list.  Every console operates smoothly and quietly.  The lid springs open fully at the push of button.  The console exterior is extensively detailed.

Listings are easy to imitate, the time and effort that go into each console's functionality and appearance is not.  We have repaired over 2000 slim ps2's in 2023.  There are several fundamental problems with "new laser" listings.  The average ribbon height of a used console is far too high.  In most cases it sits at or above the case opening, very narrowly missing the disc.  Other times it directly hits the disc leaving circular scratches on discs.  Compound that with removing the laser directly attached makes the issue worse.  The connection has been in place over a decade, there is always a level of resistance on removal.  The only reason anyone would replace a laser and not a ribbon and sell it to someone else is laziness. The effort to remove the drive allows for complete cleaning, and proactively solves disc scratching.  PS2 games are expensive, many cost more than an entire console.  Removing the drive completely also allows full inspection of the spindle ribbon, and worm motor ribbon.  Why wouldn't you then also replace the cmos battery,   that if still working, will also fail in the near future?  Generally laziness.  Removing the wire connection type can pull the clip it inserts into off if experience is lacking.  Replacing the variety that sit directly on the bottom of the board requires full disassembly down to the board.  However, when the disc drive and fan are already removed why not make that effort?  Intentions matter, providing transparency let's you know what those intentions are.

The primary focus is keeping consoles out of landfills.  You can exchange a broken ps2 slim for a $30 refund.  Mention at checkout in "message to seller" section and a prepaid return label will be included in the box.  It's helpful to leave a note inside with your username.
