Two vintage East German (GDR) smiling rosy hedgehog dolls in traditional peasant costume. They are Steiff-like in style and may have been made by Berger. These are collectable, but haven't got their original label, which on dolls of this type said 'Elastic Puppe', meaning 'Elastic Doll'. They were made of a flexible rubber-like material. These dolls came in a variety of different costumes which may have been national costume. I haven't seen any others with these particular costumes.
Dolls of this type were made in the 1950's and 1960's.
They measure about 12 and 12.5 cm tall and appear to be in good condition. They could do with cleaning, but also have earthy graduated colours on the hands and feet.
