While the player is small in size it is big on features. The player is packed with features to maximize all the potential of this new format. The world leader in the optical disc field, Pioneer is leading the field again with this breakthrough player that will set the standard for DVD-Video. The player meets the precise needs of a wide range of professional, educational and business applications from classroom lessons, college lectures and corporate training, to public exhibits and in-store displays. The compact DVD-V7200 brings together a lineup of new and improved features including Video Blackboard, Hyper Video and Video Text Retrieval functions that give the user more options than any LaserDisc or CD-based system.
Playback can be controlled via a wireless remote control unit, a standard PS/2 mouse. And for added flexibility, this model is compatible with both DVD Barcode and LaserBarcode control systems.

High Reliability
The new DVD-V7200 incorporates a high-performance brushless spindle motor and a heat resistant, dust-proof construction that together ensure an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of 10,000 hours. This high level of durability makes the DVD-V7200 ideal for use in classrooms, training facilities, exhibition halls, retail stores and kiosks, as well as many other industrial and educational applications for which reliable operation is essential. Compact and Lightweight Measuring just 8 1/4"(W) x 4 11/16"(H) x 16 1/16"(D) (210 x 119 x 408 mm), the DVD-V7200 can be placed on a small desk with room to spare, incorporated into a kiosk cabinet or conveniently hidden behind a store counter. Two players will fit side-by-side in a standard video rack system. Moreover, its 10 lbs.6 oz. (4.7 kg) weight makes it very portable and easy to carry around.
Versatile Disc Compatibility
In addition to providing superlative playback of the latest DVD-VIDEO discs, the DVD-V7200 can also be used to play conventional CD-DA discs and for full audio/video playback of video CDs. What’s more, this model is capable of playing Hybrid Discs (Pioneer format) containing DVD-Video and Text ROM files. Mouse Control A standard PS/2 mouse simply connects to the front panel of the DVD-V7200, allowing the user to easily select on- screen buttons that can be designed into DVD-Video programs.
Mouse control
combined with the powerful interactive capabilities of DVD-Video makes the DVD-V7200 an ideal stand-alone device for interactive displays and individual work stations.
DVD Barcode and LaserBarcode Compatible
The DVD-V7200 supports the DVD Barcode system that allows teachers to control the player’s operation with a Pioneer barcode scanner. In addition, this player has been made LaserBarcode compatible to allow DVD-Video discs to be used with existing LaserBarcode materials that are widely used in educational and industrial training LaserDisc programs. Frame Search
For the first time in a DVD player, Pioneer has designed the DVD-V7200 with a frame search function that provides random access, frame accurate search capability for the precision required in many industrial applications.
Video Blackboard
While still or moving video images are being displayed, the user can add free-hand, graphic object drawings in eight colors or input text using a PS/2 mouse or keyboard (PS/2) connected to the front terminal. The start and end points of the graphics can also be recorded in the player’s memory to enable automatic or manual display of graphics and text. Barcode Stack/Command Stack
This function allows the user to input commands into the player’s memory (up to 300 command lines, organized in up to 150 groups) for automatic recall and display. Playback of single commands or stacks of several linked commands is possible. Users can input command sequences via remote control, barcode reader or RS-232C control.
Hyper Video
Using the mouse, this function allows the user to access related video segments simply by clicking on video objects that have been activated as buttons by title developers.
RS-232C Command Protocol
The DVD-V7200’s command protocol is almost the same as Pioneer’s LaserDisc player mnemonic command protocol and includes additional commands to take advantage of the new features of DVD-Video such as Subpicture and Multi Angle. Furthermore, this model accepts commands that are compatible with the Video Blackboard and Barcode Stack/Command Stack functions.
External Option Switch
The computer interface connector provides additional signal lines that allow simple outside switch devices to select DVD menu items or execute Barcode Stack/Command Stack functions. This allows sophisticated control from simple, inexpensive user control panels.
Weekly Timer
Ideal for exhibits and store display applications, this handy function lets you simultaneously set the player’s ON and OFF times and the start points of the video selection playback to be played for each day of the week.
Power ON Start
Just turn ON the power and playback of the predetermined video selections will begin automatically.
External Sync Lock with Loop Through
An external black burst sync signal can be applied through the EXT SYNC IN terminals to enable clean switching with other video sources.
Video Text Retrieval
The DVD-V7200 is capable of playing discs that include ROM TEXT files (developer-defined files) in addition to DVD-Video format data (Pioneer format). The user can select buttons during video playback to display related text data on the screen. However, this function cannot be used exclusively for playback of ROM files. *The Video Text Retrieval function will be included in upgraded versions of this model scheduled to appear from December 1998.
