Arts & Crafts Tooled Leather Acorn Oak Leaf Desk Letter & Stamp Rack.

Dating to around 1900 this is a very fine example of a tooled leather desk tidy or letter rack. Made from tooled leather with an intricate oak leaf and acorn design.

To the front are two areas for stamps and a central front section for postcards. To the back is a wider section for paper or letters.

It has a hinged back strut section which opens, allowing the rack to stand.

It measures 22cm wide 14cm high

The interior is lined with marbled paper, as is the back of the strut, which is held in place  by a small satin ribbon. The same marbled paper lines the bottom of the inside of the letter rack, with brown satin on the back.

Very much in the style of Liberty it does not have a makers mark. A fine period example for any desk in a period house.
