Nikon NIKKOR AF-S DX 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens in excellent cosmetic condition. No noticeable blemishes on front or rear lens elements or internal dust or other defects. There are a couple dings on filter ring. This is the "VR II" version which really only differs compared to the original one in having a lock switch for the 18mm zoom position and gold lettering for the "VR" instead of red. ;-) But it is probably newer and more desirable.
Vibration Reduction (VR) has been confirmed functional on my VR Test Rig.
The photos are of the actual lens for sale.
However, the lens has a couple of problems. While it is mostly usable in its current state, proper repair would be recommended.
There is a sometimes point where Zoom may be somewhat harder to move beyond. This doesn't really affect functionality.
- Autofocus works but may not be as quick and quiet as on a new lens.
Manual focus using the knurled ring on the lens does not work reliably over part of the zoom range - The numbers and focus distance get stuck even when autofocus works just fine. This appears to be a common problem with the 18-200 VR and VR II lenses.
Lubrication might cure everything but I cannot rule out some type of internal damage. Dealing with those is above my pay grade though (and yours unless you have dealt with modern Nikon lenses). No, it can't just be dunked in a vat of WD40™. ;-)
Please do not buy it if any of this is a concern - and ask questions first. Before shipping I will request you to confirm that you understand this lens should be usable but not fully functional! However, for someone moderately familiar with the larger AF-S lenses could represent a nice challenge. How's that for putting a positive spin on it?
Includes lens, flower lens hood, and front and rear caps.
It would make a nice paperweight or (small) boat anchor though. ;-)
Thanks for looking,
