This is designed for use with 2-wire lamp cord only, and connection is made in the plug by prongs that penetrate the insulation as the plug is snapped closed. It depends on the conductors being held parallel by the insulation material. There are no screw terminals and it would be very difficult to use this plug with, for example, two loose single conductor wires.

I needed flat plugs to place behind the headboard of my bed. Being as flat as they are they alleviated the problem of me always banging the regular plugs when I change the sheets each week. I wish I had bought more than the two I did because I could use them behind my couch as well.
