This is the top section of the wick that fits over the bottom half of the complete wick system that contains both the top and bottom sections.Top portion is removable for future wick changing making wick replacement less costly. As long as your bottom section is in good shape then this will be the best option for you instead of replacing the whole wick system. This is a Top Quality Wick made by KeroWorld and well known for their Quality! The fluffy white top makes it easy to notice when cleaning your wick is needed. The complete wick assembly is perfect if your heater is not performing to 100% efficiency because sometimes the bottom of wick may contain the contaminated old kerosene and soot that fall down the wick and into the kerosene tank. Bottom sections of wicks get the contamination that causes the wicks to perform poorly and need to be changed periodically. Kerosene starts to break down only after approximately 6 months and can gum up your wick bottom and prevent the top from performing 100%. This is especially true during storage where the heaters sit idle and kerosene left in the tank goes bad and contaminates the wick. The use of KeroKleen is very effective and useful during storage.
