This is Malmgren's formulation (M551), provided in a powdered form. You may wish to add pineapple juice or other additives to this formulation.
This formulation was developed by Dr. Svante Malmgren, who figured out a clever way of providing nitrogen in the form of a defined amino acid preparation in order to grow cypripediums and other terrestrial orchids. Turns out it does very well with Ophrys spp. and other European terrestrials, and probably many North American terrestrials as well.
Contains gelling agent (agar). Add water, mix thoroughly, add in pineapple juice (if desired), adjust pH, pour, and autoclave.
