PRINCESS STYLE WITH THE BUST COVERED IN COUCHED HAND EMBROIDERED APPLIQUES OF BASKETS WITH FLORALS ALTERNATING WITH ROUNDS OF EMBROIDERY AND RUNS DOWN THE CENTRAL SEAM IN BOTH THE FRONT AND THE REAR AS WELL AS MATCHING APPLIQUES ON EACH OUTER SLEEVE.
BLACK SILK COVERED BUTTONS TRIM EACH CUFF WITH THE REAR OF EACH SLEEVE IN A NET INSERTION. BOTTOM SKIRTING IS IN A SATIN FINISHED SILK WITH THE REAR FLOWING IN A LONG TRAIN. MATCHING SILK WEAVES THROUGH THE BUST ON AN ANGLE WITH BANDS OF SILK OVER THE SHOULDERS.
COMPLEX HOOK AND EYES CLOSE THE REAR.
CONDITION: I SUSPECT THAT THIS GOWN WAS PROBABLY ORIGINALLY LINED IN SILK AS TRACES REMAIN. BONING AT THE REAR HOOK AND EYE CLOSURE IS THE ONLY BONING THAT REMAINS. ONE PIECE IS STITCHED TO THE SIDE BUT THE OTHER IS COMPLETELY LOOSE AND A NEW CLOSURE WOULD NEED TO BE CONSTRUCTED.
BROWN UNDERAGE COLOR IS SEEN BUT IS MILD, I WOULD SUGGEST A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING OR COULD BE SPOT CLEANED TO FRESHEN. THE BOTTOM TRAIN HAS A LARGE WATER STAIN THAT RIPPLES AROUND, SEEN ON THE SILK WITH AN AN ERASER SIZED HOLE ON THE SILK ON THE LEFT SIDE TRAIN AND A SIMILAR HOLE TO THE SILK ON THE CENTER FRONT PANEL.
